About Our Brooklyn Chiropractor and Brooklyn Acupuncture Practice
At Community Chiropractic & Acupuncture we are committed to providing individualized and compassionate patient care. Dr. Karen Thomas founded the practice over 30 years ago with the express purpose of providing leading-edge alternative healthcare to the Park Slope community. The practice has grown considerably since then, and moved from its original location at Lincoln Place and Sixth Avenue to its present location on Eighth Avenue at Union Street in Park Slope, Brooklyn 11217.
Dr. Thomas is a 1987 graduate of the New York Chiropractic College and maintains a thriving private practice in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Her post-doctoral credentials include: a diplomate in chiropractic neurology from Logan Chiropractic College and The Carrick Institute, and certification in homeopathy from New York Chiropractic College.
In 1998, Dr. Thomas added traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and acupuncture to her qualifications when she completed a four-year program at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in New York City. She creates and teaches programs on complimentary alternative medicine (CAM) approaches to pain management. She has served as a college lecturer and has also worked with multi-disciplinary clinics.
How we work
At Community Chiropractic & Acupuncture located in Park Slope, Brooklyn 11217, we apply both Eastern and Western medical theory to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan designed specifically for each patient. Our goal is to help our patients enjoy an optimal quality of life with improved physical health, mental well-being and a sense of spiritual tranquility.
During each visit we treat your primary health concern, such as pain relief, such as, neck pain and back pain, organ disharmony, or emotional stress. Simultaneously, we address the ultimate goal: balancing your body's life force, or Qi ( or 'chi' pronounced: chee), and restoring your body to optimal health.
Treatment plans may include a combination of elements such as:
All of these are integrative aspects of our on-premises care. In addition, every patient becomes involved in their own care by making designated lifestyle changes.
